As things worked one day and then not the next on two different Linux partitions (and apparently to others), I'm confident we didn't change anything to cause this. I installed Linux and got Minecraft working first on my profile and then on my son's just a couple days ago (on a Lenovo Flex 5 with an Intel Core i3 processor), and yesterday it stopped working just hours after buying my son a license. Under the games’ description, the ‘Update’ button will show up and pressing it begins the update.This happened to my us too. To update the game, highlight Minecraft, press the menu button (3 horizontal lines) and click ‘More Info’. Once downloaded, the icon will pop up in the Home tab under “Recent”. Proceed to Store by hovering over the magnifying glass icon, type ‘Minecraft’ and select it when it appears to download the update. Subscribe to our channel on Switch and we’ll alert you about future updates on your console! FIRE TV Alternatively, you can visit the eShop and search for a game called only 'Minecraft'. Press the button in this window and you will be redirected to the eShop where you can download the new Minecraft. If you own Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, you simply need to start the game and a window will pop up about the new Minecraft. From here, select “Get updates” and all your installed applications should update (including Minecraft)! NINTENDO SWITCH If not, open Microsoft Store, select the three dots in the top right corner and choose “Downloads and updates”. Minecraft for Windows should update to the latest version automatically. If updates are not set to automatic on your PS4, you can select the game using the ‘options’ button and then select ‘check for update’ from the new menu. Minecraft for PS4 should update automatically. If no updates are available here, your game is fully updated! PLAYSTATION 4 From the list, select “Manage game & add-ons” and then “Updates”. Go to “My Apps & Games”, select Minecraft and press the more options button.

If you have the latest version installed just press “Open” and play! XBOX

If you own Minecraft already you should be prompted to update Minecraft if it isn’t already updated. Open up App Store or Google Play on your device and search for “Minecraft”. If not, press the arrow to the right of the play button and select “Latest Release”. The launcher should automatically show you the latest release.
